While taking on other producer roles in recent years, Mark Lipsky was also consulting producer on Iniquity (2012), directed and written by Joshua Coates. This was where the two developed a synergy which nurtured a great friendship and working relationship. Lipsky has also been instrumental in securing funding for Coates soon to be released film For Thine is the Kingdom.

“I feel honoured to have the opportunity to work with Mark a third time around. He has several motion pictures already in development but he has agreed to take on this additional project because he shares my vision and my passion and sincere love for Jamaica. We are focused on producing one of the best films Jamaica has seen,” shares Coates.

Lipsky, who is currently president of WOF Films based in New York, also managed the careers of Eddie MurphyChris Rock, Arsenio Hall, Dan AykroydJulia Louis-Dreyfusand managed the affairs of Saturday Night Live television show owner Loren Michael. He was also the head of Eddie Murphy Productions for over a decade.

Mark Lipsky’s connection to Jamaica goes as far back as 1993 when he assisted with the production of a musical collaboration between Shabba Ranks and Eddie Murphy titled “I Was a King”.

Excited about giving back to the Jamaican economy, the director/producer; guided by JAMPRO, Jamaica’s trade and investment promotion agency; is working with a 90 percent Jamaican cast and crew for the US$1.5 million budget film. Coates has also partnered with Jamaica’s Sharon Burke of Solid Agency to help produce the picture. Burke has already assisted with casting for the film – as Coates adds to the growing list of producers.

Of the many notable celebrities in talks with the producers, Coates is excited about the main character “Peaches”.

“We are pretty much just ironing out the details with dancehall star Shenseea for the leading role. I truly believe that young lady, along with some other very talented Jamaicans I have come across, will deliver beyond the box office standard and provide a true representation of Jamaica’s rich heritage and culture,” shares Coates. “What’s ironic is how muchBrooklynn Evans [who will play young Peaches] looks like Shenseea. Brooklyn is actually one of the first cast members I signed.”

According to Coates “We are in the process of wrapping up funding and casting and expect to shoot over two months during the third quarter of 2018 and hit the box office some time in 2019.”
