15th Annual Performing Arts Fundraiser, November 4, 2012, Florida

The M. Athalie Range Cultural Arts Foundation (MARCAF) presents its 15th Gala: A Musical Celebration of Life on Sunday November 4th, 2012, 6:00pmat the Gusman Theater, 174 East Flagler Street, Miami, FL, 33131. This signature fundraising event commemorates M. Athalie Range’s lifelong commitment to the arts. During the event the MARCAF will honor select individuals for their exemplary lifetime achievements and contributions to South Florida past, present and future. In addition, there will be a special concert with the award winning and internationally acclaimed Dillard Center for the Arts Jazz Ensemble (DCA) that reflects the foundations commitment to inspiring youth in the arts. The event will be hosted by NBC-6 News Anchor Trina Robinson.

Her long-lasting legacy is not only extremely important in local politics and civil rights but also to her commitment to the performing arts and the future of our youth,” Eric Knowles, M. Athalie Range Cultural Arts Foundation Chairman. 

The 2012 fundraiser will honor four of South Florida’s most well-respected community leaders for their exemplary lifetime achievements and contributions to the community. This year’s award recipients are:  Thelma Gibson as “The Ground Breaker”; H.T. Smith as “The Change Agent”; Bill Diggs as “The Maverick” and Marlon Hill as “The Bridge Builder”

The event’s highly anticipated headliner is the nationally recognized and critically acclaimed DillardCenter for the Arts (DCA) Jazz Ensemble. The performance ensemble is composed of talented South Florida student musicians exclusively selected through an arduous audition process. Under the direction of Christopher Dorsey, the primary goal of the Jazz Program at DillardCenter for the Arts is to introduce students to a wide array of Jazz literature at the highest level and provide performance opportunities. The DCA Jazz Ensemble has earned the accolades and reputation as one of the finest jazz bands in the country.

The M. Athalie Range Cultural Arts Foundation was created to enhance and expand community awareness and appreciation for the performing arts. This signature fundraising event provides support to gifted and talented young African Americans in Miami-DadeCounty who are pursuing professional careers in the performing arts. Additionally, is funds the foundation’s dedicated support to organizations that provide local youth the structure and guidance needed for character-building.

To take part of an unforgettable evening that celebrates true excellence and extraordinary entertainment,  individuals may purchase VIP Tickets at $150 which includes a VIP reception, honoree program and premium seating in orchestra or General Tickets $75 which includes the performance only in Mezzanine seating.
