Tournament of Champions,Inc.(TOC), celebrating 20 years of fostering the academic and athletic growth of Florida’s young aspiring athletes will host their 18th annual Nike Florida All Star Football game on Saturday, December 22, 2012, at Traz Powell Stadium (11380 Northwest 27th Avenue, Miami Gardens, Florida). New Life Community Pharmacy is the Presenting Sponsor. Tailgate activities start at 2:30pm and the game kicks off at 7:30pm. Admission is $10.00. This is the 16th year that Nike has partnered with TOC for this competitive event. The game will include some of Florida’s most elite players competing for the coveted notoriety title, bragging rights and scholarships. Florida has more NFL players than any other region in the United States. In addition, Miami has more than NFL players than any other city. Ninety-five percent of all NFL players born in South Florida have competed in TOC’s South Florida All-Star Football Game.
TOC continues their legacy of of producing a myriad of sporting events inclusive of the premier football and basketball events for high school athletes in South Florida. Some of the their signature events set for this year include :
• TOC’s annual “Shoot for the Stars”:A Human Development/Positive Peer Leadership Training Symposium-Athletes on December 2nd from 12-3pm at the Miramar Cultural Arts Center. The symposium is designed to educate and prepare high school student athletes for a smooth and successful grad graduation transition and subsequent collegiate matriculation. It provides firsthand knowledge of what to expect as a collegiate athlete and how to balance these pressures and demands. The facilitators use presentations, role-playing, skits and interactive workshops, as well as group breakout sessions. Confirmed speakers include : Wesley Frater, John Kee , Lisa Starks, Detective Williams,Guy Wheeler, Jim Berry, Dwight Freeman. Students must rsvp to attend.
• On Friday, TOC celebrates with their annual holiday celebration Soiree on Friday, December 21, 2012. The event will be held at the JW Marquis.(255 Biscayne Boulevard Way). This event serves as an opportunity for TOC to thank all who have partnered with them to help support the young athletes of Florida. The event is free and an RSVP is required to attend. Toys will be collected for the Nine Mile Foundation in Jamaica and distributed throughout Jamaica.
