2018 Children’s Gospel Finals To Rock Ranny Williams Ent Centre

Sunday, May 27 will see the 24 finalists of 2018 Jamaica Children’s Gospel Song Competition compete at the National Finals at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre, 36 Hope Road, Kingston 10. The competition, organized by the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC), an Agency of the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport will see the most soulful junior soloists, ensembles and choirs from across the island compete for a chance to take home cash prizes and trophies in addition to the competition’s prestigious titles. Beginning at 6:30 p.m. the National Finals, which is a part of the JCDC 55th Anniversary Celebrations, will also feature Marsha Jarrett, 2016 Jamaica Gospel Song winner as the guest performer.2018 Children's Gospel Finals to Rock Ranny Williams Ent Centre 1

According to Stephen Davidson, Director of Marketing & Public Relations, “The Jamaica Children’s Gospel Song Competition allows us to celebrate our junior songbirds as we nurture our young talents and specially celebrate them for Child’s Month. Each year the finalists come bigger and better than the year before and based on the awe-inspiring performances at each stage of the competition, we know that these finalists will not disappoint.”

The finalists in the Choir Category, 6 – 10 year old age group are: Praise Tabernacle Christian Academy with Awesome God; Mona Preparatory with Hosanna Forever; Jessie Ripoll Primary with The Medley; and Ascott Primary with Swing Low Sweet Chariot.

The finalists in the Choir Category, 11 – 15 year old age group are: Lime Hall Primary with Enter Into Jerusalem; Mt. Airy Primary with I Will Never Be; Mt. Zion Primary with Hallelujah, Salvation & Glory; and Wolmer’s Prep with He Reigns.

The finalists in the Ensemble Category, 6 – 10 year old age group are: Duhaney Park Primary with Jesus Bigger; Kids for Christ (Mona) with Heart Like Yours; Mandeville Primary with The Blood Prevails; and Polkadots (Harrison) with Oceans.

The finalists in the Ensemble Category, 11 – 15 year old age group are: Praise City Intl with Good Good Father; Children of Sweet Sounds with Amazing Grace; Crescent Primary with One Touch; and Mistletones (Harrison) with Mercy Walked In.

The finalists in the Solo Category, 6 – 10 year old age group are: Dajaunae Palmer with Made A Way; Moya Murray with Lord I Believe In You; Zachery Hunter with Above All; and Erica Green with Hallelujah.

The finalists in the Solo Category, 11 – 15 year old age group are: Janae McLymont with The Battle is Not Yours; Gelissa Daley with He Never Promised; Chrisonya Bartley with He Wants It All Today; and Darrion McCook with Encourage Yourself Medley.

The costs of tickets for finals are $400 for Children and $800 presold/$1000 at the gate for adults and can be purchased at the JCDC Head Office, 3- 5 Phoenix Ave, Kingston 10, Fontana Pharmacy Barbican location, and online at jcdcjamaica.com.

The Jamaica Children’s Gospel Song Competition is sponsored by the CHASE Fund, Tropical Rhythm, Tastee Cheese Hunts, Mays, Excelsior,Arm and Hammer/Seven Seas, Popeyes, and Jewel Runaway Bay.
