Wednesday, April 10th, at midnight marks the deadline for the public to cast their vote in the 32nd International Reggae and World Music Awards (IRAWMA). It is the final chance for the public to select their favorite from a list of nominees, ultimately deciding winners in various categories.
Over 200 Reggae and World Music industry individuals, groups and others were nominated by industry experts (i.e. entertainers, radio DJs, entertainment media reps, promoters, producers, booking agents, club operators, bloggers, record labels and others in the music industry) which was announced in February. The public then had an opportunity to vote for their favorite nominee online at www.irawma.com, which ends on April 10th.
Winners will be announced at the glitzy IRAWMA ceremony, Saturday, May 4th, at the prestigious Coral Springs Center for the Arts, in Coral Springs, Florida. Reggae superstar Freddie McGregor, who has captured more than twenty IRAWMAs over the years and reggae princess and multi-IRAWMA winner Etana, will host the Awards ceremony. Top nominee Mr. Vegas (six nominations) will perform, along with some fifteen other top reggae and world music performers.
Leading the list of nominees is Mr. Vegas with six, Damian Marley five, Sean Paul, Konshens, Romain Virgo and Third World with four nominations each. Rounding out the top contenders with three nominations each are Jimmy Cliff, Marcia Griffiths, Tarrus Riley and Busy Signal.  The complete list of nominees is available online at www.irawma.com where the public can vote and also purchase tickets for the star-studded awards ceremony.
The 2013 Lifetime/Hall of Famers are Derrick “Ducky” Simpson – Black Uhuru, Denver “JAMUSA” Silvera, Edward Seaga, Lloyd “Joe Fraser” Campbell and Inner Circle.
