5th Annual ART OFF THE MAIN to Feature Visionary Master Artist Bernard Stanley Hoyes – October 2-5, 2008 – New York

New York, NY – The 5th annual Art Off The Main ( www.ArtOffTheMain.com ), the first art fair to exclusively showcase the paintings, sculpture, graphics and photography created by artists of African, Caribbean and Latin American ancestry, will host visionary master artist Bernard Stanley Hoyes at the Metropolitan Pavilion North, 110 West 19th Street in Chelsea, New York City, October 2 through 5.  An opening night benefit gala will be held Thursday, October 2 p.m. from 6 to 10:00 p.m.

Born into a family rooted in Jamaica’s revivalist church, Hoyes memories of religion  and rituals have informed his artistic productivity throughout his life. His celebration of traditional African religion and spirituality continues to find universal appeal, stunning audiences worldwide.  Oprah Winfrey, Natalie Cole, Steve Harvey, Keenan Ivory Wayans and the National Urban League are among his collectors.  Selections of Hoyes’ work will also be featured in an upcoming episode of Showtime hit series, “Dexter.”
 
Hoyes was recently selected as one of eleven local artists chosen to represent their various cities with artwork in support of the “How Sweet the Sound” national choir competition sponsored by Verizon Wireless.  The selection is further testimony to the magical essence behind not only his art, but the man behind the art.
