7th Annual Run/Walk for Leukemia Bone Marrow Awareness, Team Up and Earn Money for Your Charity, November 1st, 2014

On Saturday, November 1, 2014, the Kiwanis Clubs of Pinecrest/Palmetto Bay  and Kendall South Dade have partnered with Barbara Gordon Leukemia Bone Marrow Awareness, Inc. (BGLBMA) to present the annual 5K Race/Walk at Larry and Penny Thompson Park, Shelter 2 at 12541 SW 184 Street, Miami, Florida 33186. Registration starts 7:30 a.m. and the race starts at 9 a.m.

BGLBMA is inspired by Barbara Gordon, a survivor of leukemia for over 20 years. Barbara and her team are committed to educating others about bone marrow diseases and to increase the number of bone marrow and cell donors. BGLMBA’s mission is to create awareness among South Florida communities and contribute to saving the lives of people diagnosed with leukemia bone marrow disease.

“We are very excited that our 7th Annual 5K Run/Walk is at the beautiful Larry and Penny Thompson Park again this year. Bring your family, friends and co-workers to the friendliest 5K in South Florida,” says Barbara Gordon, founder of the BGLBMA.

Teams of 20 members and over will receive a grant of 25 percent of their group’s total registration fee for the team’s selected charity. To qualify for this offer, the selected charity must be a registered 501(C)3 organization. Entry fee is $25 per person and students have a special rate of $15 with student identification. All participants will receive a registration kit including race T-shirt and race bib.

Participants will also have an opportunity to learn about becoming a bone marrow or blood cell donor at the Be the Match booth. Fruits, water and other snacks will be available before and after the race. This year’s race is also sponsored by Be the Match, Mercedes Benz of Cutler Bay, Dr. Wentworth Jarrett Wellness Center, 305 Computers, Top Shelf Business Solutions, Inc., James Accounting & Tax Practice P.A. and Brown & Bigelow, Inc.
