As of August 1 this year, Air Jamaica Vacations will be outsourced to the Mark Travel Corporation, headquartered in Milwaukee, Wiscosin.
The corporation will conduct Jamaica’s business from its offices in Orlando, Florida.
“Our customers will continue to receive the same high level of service and various options for booking packages under the new management. To the consumer, and travel agent community, nothing will change,” said George deMercado, Vice President of Sales at Air Jamaica.
He said that Air Jamaica has complete confidence that under the Mark Travel Corporation, the Air Jamaica Vacations brand would continue to offer the same quality service and excellence in travel packages.
At a meeting on April 30, employees were advised of the decision, and that members of staff would be fully compensated by Air Jamaica until July 31. In addition, employees were informed that positions will be available with the Mark Travel Corporation, and where possible, would be offered to existing employees.
“This is the best business decision for the company moving forward,” said Paul Pennicook, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, at Air Jamaica.
“We are an airline, first and foremost, and outsourcing the vacation division allows us to focus on the business of running our airline efficiently. We feel this change will allow Air Jamaica to be more successful and focused on truly being the world’s best airline to the Caribbean,” he added.
Mr. Pennicook expressed his deep gratitude to all employees of Air Jamaica Vacations for their service and commitment.
The Mark Travel Corporation offers service to more than 200 destinations worldwide, and currently operates 16 vacation brands.
