Recording artiste Alaine recently handed over the proceeds from her charity concert ‘Walking on Air’ to beneficiaries, Allman Town Primary School and Mary’s Child.

Walking on Air which was held at Redbones Blues Café on September 21 on her birthday was Alaine’s first event of this nature and she promised the charities that it will not be the last: “We want to personally thank all the patrons who came out in support of these two institutions. We collected a total of J$360,000.00 from ticket sales and this has been given equally to both organizations.”

Alaine, who has been working with the Allman Town Primary School for years now, has adopted its music education programme, with the focus being on having more children exposed to music at the primary school level. This initiative led to her partnering with First Global Bank in 2011 to spread the idea to other schools across the island.

Director for Mary’s Child, Nadia Williams who was overjoyed at Alaine’s donation said:

“This effort will go a long way assisting with the services provided by the home.”

The donation to Mary’s Child, according to Alaine’s agent Nicole Brown, is important because: “The home provides academic instruction, skills training and counseling services for the residents in an effort to re-integrate them successfully into society. Many of the girls have suffered trauma and this home plays an important role in their healing.”

Alaine’s career continues to move at speed as she is kept busy as a judge on the Tastee Talent Trail, local performances and a packed overseas performance schedule. She also has a special surprise for her fans in December when she will dominate another stage.
