Digicel Bacchanal 2009 has become one of the most anticipated Friday night happenings on the social scene in Kingston at Mas Camp over the past three weeks. In bigger, better style, Digicel continues to excite the Mas Camp audience each week with exciting new activities and this Friday, the Queen of Soca Alison Hinds will grace the Mas Camp Stage.

Shelly-Ann Curran, Senior Sponsorship Manager at Digicel comments, “Alison’s powerful, emotional vocals and high-energy live shows are legendary to Caribbean music fans. So it’s fitting that Hinds is the first soca artiste to grace the Digicel Bacchanal Stage”. Crowned the undisputed Queen of Soca by fans worldwide, the Soca Queen’s standout tracks include Ragamuffin, Aye Aye Aye, Twister, Faluma, Togetherness, DJ Ride, Sweetest Wine, Iron Bazodee, Fireworks, Roll It Gal and Love Affair and Soca In My Body all of which patrons can expect to hear this Friday at Mas Camp.

Every Friday night Digicel promises to bring something extra to Mas Camp. The Digicel Wheel has been a major attraction at Mas Camp with patrons visiting the Digicel booth to spin the wheel for a chance to win prizes ranging from call credit, Bacchanal T-Shirts to BlackBerry Flip handsets.

“And that is not all”, adds Shelly-Ann. “Digicel is also running a text promotion during the Carnival season where two lucky patrons can win two Moulin Rouge costumes and the opportunity to come jump a bigger, better beat with the Digicel band, and then get pampered at a Spa right after that”.

ABOUT ALISON HINDS

Born in England, Alison moved to Barbados when she was 11 years old. After graduating from high school she joined Square One, a Soca band made up of long time friends. Square One toured non-stop, playing everywhere from bars, hotels and eventually bigger venues throughout the Caribbean. Alison’s first hit with Square One was 1996’s Ragamuffin, which won the Road March during the Barbados Carnival. The next year she repeated that victory as well as winning The Party Monarch, with Twister; making her the first woman in Barbados to capture both titles. Hinds recorded eleven albums with the band, including their debut Full Bloom. The CD was huge internationally and featured the number one single Faluma. Alison Hinds is one of the most popular soca singers in the world who has produced many popular songs that top charts even in countries which do not widely listen to soca.
