The Jamaica United Relief Association is a non-profit organization here in South Florida. JURA was founded by Joan Seaga Gonzalez and friends over 25 years ago in response to a need for a Caribbean oriented service organization. Popularly known as JURA, it’s purpose is help to meet the needs of those less fortunate or in need of assistance. JURA has grown from its humble beginnings and is now a major charitable organization serving South Florida and the Caribbean. JURA will continue its growth and service as the community grows in awareness. Membership is open to all civic minded persons.
Through the years JURA organizes fund raising events and also solicits both individual and corporate contributions and sponsorships. The net proceeds are used to provide cash, goods, material, school supplies, medical equipment, assisted with medical and burial exprenses for various families and individuals, and has underwritten community outreach programs. JURA
has donated over 1 million US dollars ( $1,000.000) of assistance to the Caribbean and local communities in the last few years.
