The Stuge Town website has been updated in time for the Annual Back-A-Yard Celebrations. In fact it will be almost a full week of celebrations including the Ecumenical Church Service on Sunday July 29th and the all day celebrations on Wednesday August 1st-Emancipation Day. That day will feature music, cultural events, a maypole and of course lots of great Jamaican food. There will also be many other events throughout the week.
Check out the people section of the website and learn about some of the Sturge Town Pioneers that you will meet at Back-A-Yard. There is also a new section on the website on Marcus Garvey and his 1932 visit to Sturge Town, when he spoke under the Plum Tree at the bottom of Baptist Street
Come and join us a Back-A-Yard and learn more about the proud history of Sturge Town.
