Jamaican Reggae artiste Augustus Rasta Michael is still committed to his single entitled Cry Help produced by Hierarchy Records. The single was released last year with corresponding visuals after Jamaica was first effected by the Global pandemic, Cry Help however still has relevance as the state of the Carona Virus continues to affect the country even more now than when the island recorded their first cases of the Covid-19 virus. ,
“ What makes this song relevant today is because I grew up feeling the pinch of the massive power struggle in Jamaica and around the world, since this wicked pandemic I really thought it would bring the Jamaicans together but look at what is happening,” Augustus explained.
Augustus, who has been recording since 1997, was inspired by Michael Jackson’s Earth Song when he penned the lyrics to Cry Help and even channeled the king of pop in his delivery of the beat built by Teabell ‘Sling Ting’ Smith. With the single Augustus fused Reggae energy as well, drawing inspiration from his icons; Burning Spear, Mutabaruka and Eddy Fitzroy.
As a fan of Michael Jackson, Augustus also believes the he will always have fans that love his music as he is always calling attention to injustice and inequality. Paying homage to king of pop through Cry Help was a no brainer because it also calls out for change. Augustus hopes that Jamaicans will see what is happening here as well with their own eyes.
“The Government isn’t dealing with the Jamaican people properly throughout this Pandemic and are only catering to the rich so we have to cry out for justice and equality and I want my fans to see that im committed to this cause’ Augustus added.
The artiste is currently working on his Life Journey album, a total of 9 tracks produced by Mr. Hugh Morgan and Omar Shamario Cox for Hierarchy Records, the track Cry Help is also available on all digital platforms.
