For more than a decade, Joelle “Wendy” Cohen Wright, hilarious Jamaican interpretations of major news stories and current events have been entertaining readers across the globe. A diverse writer of poems, short sketches, and parodies, Joelle, set out on a journey to pen and publisher first a collection of character – driven sketches entitled, “A Soh Wi Do It!” That was followed by the hilarious comeback, “A Soh It Goh!” The books portray the humorous, assertive and sometimes contentious personalities of Jamaicans, using colloquial expressions and mannerisms intrinsic to the culture of Jamaica.
In recognition of Jamaica’s 50th year of Independence, Joelle will be a featured author courtesy of Sangster’s Bookstore Limited. The popular bookstore will host the launch of both books slated for October 13th at the Mall Plaza in Constant Spring, Jamaica. The author is proud to be a part of this year’s 50th Anniversary celebrations through literature.

Joelle “Wendy” Cohen Wright was raised in Kingston, Jamaica and is fast becoming one of the Caribbean’s well-loved comedy writers. With her irrepressible sense of humor and a flair for dramatics, Joelle’s writing style has the right comedic timing that is sure to induce laughter through her storytelling abilities in Jamaican patois. Her collection of sketches has made rave reviews from readers across the world. Joelle holds a post graduate degree from the University of Maryland, University College, MD.
