Jamaican chef and restaurateur Nigel Spence will host a book signing for the celebrated Caribbean book author Rosemary Parkinson in honor of her latest offering, Nyam Jamaica, at Ripe Kitchen and Bar on Tuesday, February 17th, 2009 from 6 – 8 p.m.

Nyam Jamaica is a 424 page culinary tour of the entire island of Jamaica. The book provides rich insight into the Jamaican culinary tradition and is enhanced with exquisite photographic documentation of the many wonderful people and good eats author Rosemary Parkinson has enjoyed as well as the many places visited, parish by parish, during her many years on the island of Jamaica. On occasion, hitching a ride on her bumpy but delicious travels are her Jamaican friends – celebrated chef Norma Shirley and internationally renowned photographer Cookie Kinkead.

Nyam Jamaica has received a Gourmand World Cookbook Award for Jamaica in three categories: Best easy recipes, Best photography and Best design. It has also been featured on NBC Today with Marva Allen of the Hue – Man Bookstore in Harlem, NY.
