Award-Winning Playwright Debra Ehrhardt and Acclaimed Actor Christopher Grossett Take the Stage in ‘Look What Fell Out De Mango Tree’

Knockalva International Alumni Association Inc.  is thrilled to present award-winning and internationally acclaimed performers, Debra Ehrhardt and Christopher Grossett, in a workshop performance of Ehrhardt’s new play, “Look What Fell Out De Mango Tree.”  Only one performance will be presented at the Black Spectrum Theatre, 177-01 Baisley Blvd, Queens, NY  on September 23, 2023 at 8 p.m.

Based on her true-life story, Ehrhardt’s play is about the importance of forgiveness and the power of vulnerability in Look What Fell Out de Mango Tree, Debra uncovers a long-held secret that unlocks her ability to forgive and transforms her relationship with men.  Expect to leave the theatre energized with the reaffirmation that vulnerability can be transformed into strength, frown into laughter, and sadness into joy.

This performance represents a collaboration between playwright Debra Ehrhardt and the Knockalva International Alumni Association, (KIAA) Inc. Proceeds go toward scholarships for students attending the Knockalva Polytechnic College, in Hanover, Jamaica, where food security for the nation is a high priority. Debra Ehrhardt, who has made her home in the US, maintains an unquestionable passion for her native land. She is a playwright and also a professional storyteller.  She is the consummate promoter and teacher of storytelling who founded the, “What’s Your Story Jamaica,” a million-dollar storytelling competition in Kingston a few years ago. She returns to Jamaica every year to produce and promote the competition.

Debra has won awards and high praise for her plays by many news organizations. Among performances for which Debra has earned excellent reviews for: Mango, Mango, Invisible Chairs, “Jamaica Farewell and Cock Tales: Shame on Me!

According to the WASHINGTON POST, “Debra possesses a rare ability to mesmerize that would have kept ancient Grecians sitting around the fire for hours.”

Christopher Grossett is an actor and producer who attended the Julliard School of the Performing Arts. Among the works for which he is known are the films Last LifeSomething About a Business, and Speed of Life. He was in a production of the award winning A Raisin in the Sun at Syracuse Stage. At New York’s Lincoln Center he performed in A Wrinkle in Time. He also performed in productions of Lynn Nottages Intimate Apparel at the Nevada Conservatory Theatre and in Shrinks at the LA Hudson theatre.
