BASIC FACTS ABOUT UNITED WAY OF JAMAICA

1) The United Way of Jamaica’s main objective is:
“To increase the organized capacity of people to care for one another”
2) The United Way of Jamaica is an affiliate of United Way International.
3) The United Way of Jamaica, incorporated in 1985, is an autonomous non-profit Private
Voluntary Organization registered with the Government of Jamaica.
4) The United Way of Jamaica raises funds for the entire private voluntary sector.
5) The United Way of Jamaica provides monetary grants for eligible projects to Private Voluntary
Organizations involved in serving the needy and disadvantaged throughout Jamaica.
6) All undesignated funds are allocated by a team of volunteers through a Citizens Review
Process. This allows for a more equitable and unbiased distribution of available dollars.
7) United Way of Jamaica guarantees accountability from all its grantees.
