African Reggae Legend ALPHA BLONDY

Hailing from the Cote d’Ivoire, Alpha Blondy is among the world’s most popular reggae artists. With his 12-piece band. Blondy offers a reggae beat with a distinctive African cast. Blondy creates anthems promoting morality, love, peace and social consciousness. With a range that moves from sensitivity to rage over injustice, much of Blondy’s music empathizes with the impoverished and those on society’s fringe.

Cultura Profetica from Puerto Rico

Cultura Profetica was created in Puerto Rico in 1996. Its members chose to play reggae as a means of expressing themselves musically and to exercise political critiques. Their debut album, “Cancion de alerta,” sold more than 60,000 copies in Puerto Rico alone. The band, made up of 12 musicians creates a fantastic musical blend with a traditional reggae base mixed with salsa, jazz, electronic music, hip hop, ska and bossa nova.

DON CARLOS

Carlos’ pure, sweet vocals have set a standard for Reggae singers of all ages, floating over rootsy tracks like a Jamaican butterfly. His major success came with Black Uhuru, whom he helped form in the ’70s before pursuing solo work. He later returned to revamp the band.Anyone who talks about Don Carlos’ appeal will inevitably end up mentioning the smooth and hypnotic, voice.

Midnite- Reggae from St. Croix

Hailing from the Island of St Croix, Midnite is one of the most promising roots reggae bands of the millennium. They are vanguards of conscious reggae who represent the King’s and Queen’s music to the fullness of Jah. Midnite’s profound and innovative lyrics are sincere and deeply rooted to present the other half of the story. Their cd recordings and live performances will have reggae and non-reggae listeners open to the messages they bring.

Reggae the music of Peace in a Violent World

This year in the wake of the recent violence in Tijuana we have been inspired by the One Love Peace Concert that Bob Marley produced on April 22, 1978 at the National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica. The concert was held during civil and political war in Jamaica between opposing Parties. Bob Marley’s message to the warring parties was “that we’ve got to unite and give love instead”.

We feels this message is true for today, all over the world not just in Tijuana. But due to the fear and violence that we have all experienced lately we are dedicating Bob Marley Day to Bob Marley’s Message of unity and peace. Reggae Music carries a message of peace and unity

Indigenous people say, “This world is not ours it’s on loan from our children”. We live in a very serious time so we must teach peace and tolerance. Peace and love is our goal in this life. We must teach that everything in this life is sacred and interconnected; if you hurt, I hurt, if you bleed, I bleed. We have to plant good seeds and transmit them from our parents and ancestors to this society. The good seeds that have been transmitted in our minds and bodies that carry the knowledge that has been transmitted by previous generations; our ancestors and our parents are seeds of joy, peace and happiness as well as seeds of sorrow and anger. But every time we plant healthy seeds it strengthens the good seeds within us. Then inside of us we will begin to sprout seeds that are wholesome, healing and refreshing and they will take care of the negative seeds. To succeed in this war of life we need to cultivate a good reserve of healthy, refreshing seeds in our children and ourselves.

DECLARATION OF WORLD PEACE

A Declaration of World Peace
A Declaration of World Peace

I, being a citizen of the Earth, declare my home a place of peace.

Within my home, no one will die by the hands of another. Wars of destruction will not be waged. All conflict will be resolved by word, mind and pen. As a citizen of Earth, I have the right to live with peace as my strength and without the need of enemies. All beings on the earth are friends and all will be treated from this moment on with dignity and respect. Love, joy and wonder will guide my future and the future of my children and their children. Through this peace let all of us on earth flourish and let the wonders of the universe be revealed.

I declare world peace.
