WHAT: Book Launch – “Jamaica Athletics – A Model for the World” by Patrick L. Robinson. The booklet is an endeavour to identify the basis for Jamaica’s success in global athletics. Robinson’s thesis is that even though Jamaica has tremendous natural talent in athletics, it is the system that has evolved since 1910 that underpins and explains our high quality performances at the international level. The booklet attempts to identify the main features of this system.
AUTHOR: Patrick L. Robinson has been for many years an avid follower of global track and field athletics, and has always taken a keen interest in Jamaica’s development in that sport. He is currently a Judge at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia in the Hague, Netherlands, where he has lived for the past 8 years.
