A US Court of Appeals has thrown out an appeal by incarcerated Grammy winning Reggae artist Buju Banton (real name Mark Anthony). The court said it does not have jurisdiction to hear the appeal. Banton had filed the appeal to have his conviction overturned on the grounds of juror misconduct. Baton’s goal was to secure a new trial.
Baton will continue to serve out his prison sentence of 10-years. He was convicted in February 2011 and not scheduled for release until 2019.
