New York, NY/Kingston, JA – 27, April 2006) Buju Banton and Gargamel Music is in no way, shape or form involved in or supportive of the album Buju Banton Presents: Toppa Di Top Dirty Rhythms being released by Big Cat records.
The so called deal that was executed 5 years ago is null and void today and despite the fact that the material is just as old, Big Cat records is trying to promote it as a sanctioned new album and has even gone as far as listing Buju Banton as one of their artists on their web site. Gargamel Music found out about the release by accident and tried over the last two months to negotiate in good faith with these people, but it is clear that Big Cat records is only concerned about exploiting the Buju Banton name, the Gargamel Music brand and Dancehall-Reggae music in general.
This is unacceptable in 2006. And as such, we strongly urge all distributors, records stores and especially fans of Buju Banton and the other artists on the compilation not to support this album as no one but Big Cat records will benefit from the sales on this project. Litigation is our next step.
Forward ever. Backwards never.
