ByBlacks.com, the leading online magazine for Black Canadians, announces the launch of its upgraded platform and media kit to enhance user experience across its growing readership. The redesign is the product of its Speed Up & Grow project, sponsored by Ontario Creates. The projects goal was to reduce page load speed, modernise the look for broader appeal, and improve overall functionality.

The remodel addresses critical issues that previously disrupted navigation processes and aligns with best practices used by top online magazines globally.

The new design features streamlined searches, full page images on articles, a simplified menu, Google News link, along with an expanded selection of advertising options for clients via Google Ad Manager.

“The project took over six months from ideation to completion. Our project timelines were hampered significantly by various team members getting COVID over the past six months,” said Roger Dundas, co-founder, ByBlacks.com.“By just switching our hosting to a Toronto Based provider, we achieved record load speeds. In the end what we have is a beautiful world class site, that has been stripped of all non-essential data.”

In addition to the new layout, the online Media Kit has been upgraded to incorporate monthly demographic data and web traffic metrics retrieved from its Google Analytics and Google Search Console accounts, to offer full transparency and readily accessible information to potential buyers.

“ByBlacks.com continues to be an essential platform for delivering timely and critical narratives that encapsulate the Black Canadian experience, in all its rich and nuanced forms. To reinforce our mission, we wanted to reinvigorate the magazine’s aesthetic and performance to appeal to upcoming generations as we continue to serve our long-time readership,” Camille Dundas, editor-in-chief, ByBlacks.com.

Established in 2013, the online magazine centres Black Canadian stories that may not otherwise be shared in mainstream media and features the largest online Black Canadian  business directory.
