The pace of the transformation of Government to satisfy high levels of service and efficiency is moving ahead.

The Public Sector Modernisation Vision and Strategy Medium Term Action Plan have been approved by Cabinet for wider implementation across the public sector. This approval allows Government to benefit from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) loan for financing to train state employees in the areas of service delivery; governance and accountability; managing for results and change management and communication: and strategic areas where public sector companies will have to achieve objectives and targets.

The design framework of a Performance Monitoring and Evaluation System (PMES) for all Government agencies was also approved and will be implemented soon. The framework will provide a formal process through which the government will be able to monitor the performances of its entities against established targets. Implementation of the PMES has already started at selected agencies, including the Inland Revenue Department.

In the area of reducing corruption, the Government will sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the OAS to support a national plan of action to implement recommendations of the Inter American Convention Against Corruption. The OAS will provide financial assistance to develop the plan.
