CAG College Scholarships

Purpose: The Caribbean Association of Georgia, Inc.(CAG) scholarships are merit based and, are available to deserving Caribbean American college bound high school seniors.  The scholarships were established to recognize students of Caribbean American heritage, who have made exemplary leadership and service contributions to the community and within their high schools in Georgia.
Award: Two $500 scholarships to be awarded to high school seniors who are college bound.

1. Must be graduating high school seniors.
2. Maintain a least 3.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale.
3. Applicants must be of Caribbean American ancestry.
4. Georgia residency of at least 1 year.
5. At least 2 letters of recommendations from teachers, religious leaders, and/or political representatives.
6. Conduct at least100 hours of community service with local 501(c)(3)non-profit organization(s).
7. Submission of 450-500 word typed essay on (a)What do you think have caused past and perhaps future generations of Caribbean Americans to disconnect from their Caribbean heritage (b) what do you think can be done to change this (c) what can you do to help these younger generations stay connected to their Caribbean heritage?
8. Be accepted for admission at an approved accredited institution of higher education in a program of study that leads to a degree.
9. Provide a copy of the acceptance letter or certification of enrollment issued from a two or four year college or university.
10. Certify to be drug free.
11. Family members of the CAG board of directors,  committee members, partners, and sponsors are not eligible to apply.
12. CAG Education Committee will conduct interviews from a list of finalist, in order to select two recipients.
13. Application Deadline: March 30, 2013.
