The month of June is here and we’ve been planning our 2nd Annual CAHM list of activities:
We’d like to invite you to celebrate Caribbean American Heritage Month this June. This month has been designated to celebrate the achievements and contributions of Caribbean American people to the fabric of the American society.
From Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, to leaders like Colin Powell, Eric Holder, Marcus Garvey, Stokely Carmichael, Malcolm X and Shirley Chisolm, Louis Farrakhan – to entertainers like Cicely Tyson, Gabrielle Reece, Harry Belafonte, Pitbull, Sidney Poitier, Kelsey Grammer, Rihanna, Corbin Bleu, Sean Kingston, Nicki Minaj and of course in sports there are too many to count.
This June join us in Orlando or connect with your local Caribbean Chambers and Associations to see what they are doing to Celebrate and to bring awareness to the Caribbean American Community in your area.
June 6th, join me and the rest of the Caribbean American Passport team as we honor our local community heroes – both Caribbean and American. Susan Taylor, Editor Emeritus of Essence Magazine will be our keynote speaker at this event. She is of Caribbean roots too, a mixture of Trinidad & Tobago and St.Kitts. We are proud to welcome her to Orlando to celebrate with us in this special month and we invite you to celebrate with us on Wednesday with a piece of the islands.
