Talented Canadian reggae soul princess Bonnie Casey won the prestigious Bernice Adams awards for her outstanding achievements in music. This is Casey’s second award within the past six months. The Awards recognize outstanding achievement by persons in arts and culture. Casey was not on hand to receive this special award, but when reached by phone, this is what she had to say.” I feel very blessed and fortunate to receive this prestigious award.” “In a way, it is kind of humbling,” said Casey from Florida where she was touring. Her manager could not be reached for comments. The awards gala was held at the Galt Country club on Friday evening.
This former Miss Canada beauty queen finalist and fashion model is not only blessed with beauty and talent, but a benevolent spirit as well. Over the past few years, Casey has contributed significantly to her community. She was very instrumental in the fund raising efforts in support of Haiti following the devastating earthquake. She endowed her talent to this very worthy cause by participating in at least six diversified fundraising efforts.
Casey has been an avid volunteer since her senior years of high school. She has supported such organization as the Juvenile Diabetes Association, Big Sisters, The Value of Self Esteem workshop and ‘Let Thy Voice Be Heard’ program. She leads by example and has been a mentor, a role model and someone who exudes hope and confidence for these young girls who may have otherwise be hopeless.This multifaceted young person has been extremely busy since 2011 and hit the ground running since the start of 2012, touring several Continents. The former Eastwood student, upon her return to Canada last night, stated that she was very tired, but ecstatic about her winning the coveted trophy. Casey thanked her mom and the community as Cambridge has been extremely supportive since the launch of her career. She thanked Scot Ferguson and Just Hurst at Cambridge Times for their unrelenting support in sharing her journey with their readers.
