Campaign Rally for Jamaican-American Leo Gilling, Miramar Commissioner Candidate, Scheduled for March 9, 2019

MIRAMAR, FL — A Campaign Rally for Leo Gilling, Candidate for The City of Miramar Commission Seat 4, will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2019, at B & M West Indian Bakery in Miramar, Florida. Guests can enjoy refreshments, music, and entertainment by singers: Hujay and Sassquash.

Gilling plans to share his vision for Miramar which includes new revenue streams, to alleviate the pressure on residents to pay more property taxes in the coming years.  And, plans to increase cultural events with the dream of making Miramar the Arts & Culture Capitol of Broward!

“Do you know that we don’t have a movie theater in Miramar?” Gilling stated in an interview earlier this week. “I am proposing that Regional Park is turned into a Drive-In Theater where the City can advertise, with holographic advertisements, while driving in and out. That’s big dollars. That’s money that’s coming in to offset the expenses in the budget. And, we can put one of those indoor movie theaters on the east side, in Historic Miramar.”

In addition to creating two new theaters, Gilling intends to attract popular retail restaurants, entertainment, and shopping property owners and developers to the City. He proposes using the land around the Florida Turnpike’s Red Road exit as a commercial hub, offering supplementary tax revenue.

“When I wake up, I am thinking what can I do to impact somebody’s life. So, it’s not a matter of the project I am working on, but rather, the persons and the groups that are out there that need help.”
