Miami, FL (October 2006) – Tournament of Champions, INC presents the Second Annual Turks & Caicos Youth Basketball Clinics in partnership with the Turks & Caicos Crime Stoppers Organization. The series of FREE basketball fundamentals camps and school visits promoting non-violence will coincide with the launch of the Safer Schools Initiative, a crime prevention program for Turks & Caicos youth. The basketball clinics will take place on Saturday, October 21 and Sunday, October 22, 2006 at the Graceway Sports Centre in Providenciales, Turks & Caicos. October 24, 2006 is United Nations Day and a National holiday in Turks & Caicos.
Camp participants will be selected from providenciales area schools by school leaders. While the messaging of the camp is to curb violence, camp participants will include students from various socioeconomic backgrounds as well as athletic skill levels.

NBA great Mr. Wali Jones (Philadelphia 76ERS 1967 World Champion) utilizes the most unique techniques to reach thousands of youths across the globe about social ills through basketball camps & clinics. For Frater and Jones this is the final leg of a Caribbean tour that featured stops in Jamaica, Bahamas, Puerto Rico and Trinidad.

Crime Stoppers International Safer Schools Initiative was created to develop school children so that they become responsible “role models” by creating individual Student Crime Stoppers Clubs. These students based clubs are designed to offer a positive and desirable alternative to criminal activities and youth gangs. The program is created in partnership with the Ministry of Education, local police and area businesses. Over 7 Billion dollars have been recovered by Crime Stoppers International. The Turks & Caicos Crime Stoppers are in partnership with Miami Dade Police who answers the tip lines for the island.
