Staff WriterFirefly Films will begin filming the second instalment of the feature film The Candy Shop, written, directed and edited by Joel Burke, on Monday July 2nd. Filming was due to begin in March but was postponed.
“Everaldo Creary (Casper), and Ricardo Orgill (Choppy) also had main parts in the feature Better Mus Come where their characters don Afros and beards, so we decided to wait until after the filming of Better Mus Come so that they could shave for their roles for The Candy Shop”. Joel disclosed.
The 35-minute first installment of The Candy Shop was premiered at the 2nd annual Flashpoint Film Festival last December. Part 1, starring Everaldo Creary, Kyino Cunningham, Yuri Stewart, Ricardo Orgill and Melissa Fearon, is a hilarious coming of age story where three boys (Casper, Preston & Mark) search for the ultimate lap dance to celebrate the end of high school life. Their escapades lead them to The Candy Shop, where the plot then thickens and quickly unravels in a hilarious scene involving a case of mistaken sex, an iguana, and the intervention of the club owner.
In part 2, blackmail forces Casper, Preston & Mark to go back to The Candy Shop and one of the trio finds love in an unexpected place. Joel promises that audiences will see much more comical antics, “You’ll see the same momentum in comedy and a bit more plot twists.”
The Candy Shop is produced by maverick filmmaker, Paul Bucknor through Firefly Films and boasts an all-Jamaican production crew. The continuation of the feature film The Candy Shop will begin filming on July 2nd for 2 weeks, shooting on location in Mount James, Molynes Road, Port Royal and Lime Cay.
