On Thursday, June 4 from 9:00 am – 3:00 p.m., the Caribbean Association of Midwest America, Chicago Caribbean Carnival Association and the Students of Caribbean Ancestry Club of Truman College are pleased to present, “An Emergency Call to Action: The Cost and Casualties of Silence in the Caribbean Community.”
This Town Hall Meeting is in commemoration of Caribbean American HIV/AIDS Awareness Day and will be held at the Bruce Hayden Theater in Malcolm X College, 1900 W. Van Buren, Chicago IL. This Town Hall Meeting will explore how the HIV/AIDS epidemic has affected the Caribbean since reported in 1982 on the island of Jamaica .
This event is designed to raise awareness about the increasing impact of HIV/AIDS on Caribbean Americans and encourage them to take action! We will address how the Caribbean American community can make a difference here in the U.S. and the 34 islands countries that comprise the Caribbean . All are welcome! Community Service and Service Learning are available for attendees.
