Synjen Magazine was excited to have kicked off the hottest Caribbean American Fashion show on Sunday June 28, 2009 at the beautiful Renaissance Plantation Hotel. The A-list of sponsors were all accounted for with the likes of owner Joy Mahabir and marketing director Sharon Blackwood of Whiz Communications Network, franchise owner of Golden Krust Restaurant and marketing rep of Liquid Lighting Energy Drink Ouida Crawford and owner Carl of Carl’s Seafood Restaurant, Little Ochi all in the house. The fashion extravaganza was one of a kind!

With the showroom at full occupancy the show began around 8:30pm with an astonishing opening performance “The Hunt” from Vaugh Newman, a model of the show and a professional performer. The first collection to spice up the runway was “Veneno” by designer Melvie Tucker. Her bathing suits for both men and women were fierce and her production was remarkable. “Judy’s Designs” by designer Judith Barnes was sizzling with her opening production of the Jamaican colors to accommodate her Jamaican color collection. The gorgeous models then strutted down the runway dressed in the incredible collection “Piida Diida” by designer David Barnes. To bring an end to the first half of the show designer Dawn Davis with her astounded collection “Lavouches Fashion” left the runway blistering hot and fashion lovers wanted more!

Intermission gave fashion lovers the opportunity to browse amongst the various vendors’ tables set up outside the showroom. With great finds and discounted prices on show featured designer’s collections intermission was all but a good time! Liquid Lighting Energy drink, a sponsor of the show was one vendor set up to help keep fashion lovers energized!

Opening the second half of the show was the lovely and talented Dina Medina with her sexy, hip, fun and (got to have) “Dulces” collection. Following after with the sophisticated and sheik collection was “Adjani Designs” by designer Adjani Calixte. Adjani’s adorable daughter walked her down the runway to celebrate her success. Models then took the runway in designer Rosie Ferreira’s collection “Ferreira” a collection of dazzling stylish bathing suits, elegant gowns and formal wear for men. David Diaz sales manager of “Riddim Driven” sent the handsome male models down the runway dressed in garments of culture and lifestyle of reggae music. The beautiful female models too sported the men’s wear down the runway to the reggae music produced by VP Records. Lastly, Judith Barnes with “Judy’s Design closed the show with her one of a kind ball gowns and wedding dresses. The marvelous models were chaperoned by some breathe taking guys dressed in tuxedos, making a great grand finale.

At the end of the runway, snapping and catching every fashion moment were the very talented photographers and video recorder. John Lamarche “Lamarche Photography”, David I Muir “David IPhoto”, Sheldon Baldie “Sheldon B Photography”, Humberto Vidal “HVP Photography” and Andre Tokmakov “Acceler”.

Maurice Tucker, President of the Caribbean American Fashion Show, and CEO of Synjen Magazine and Vibezz TV and Monica Williams co-producer of the Caribbean American Fashion Show and publicist would like to give a special thanks to all the designers, models, makeup artist, hairstylist, media and sponsors! We could not have done it without everyone’s hard work and dedication!

We look forward to seeing everyone in October for our next fashion show during Fashion Week in Miami.
