Caribbean Maritime Foundation Announces 2019 Anchor Award Honorees

The American Caribbean Maritime Foundation (ACMF) announced that it will honor three outstanding leaders in the maritime sector in the Caribbean, Remy Vyzelman, President/CEO of Integra Marine; Gregory Purdy, SVP Operations, Royal Caribbean International; and David Harding, past president of the Caribbean Maritime Shipping Association.

“These honorees represent the best of the industry and the hopes and dreams of our future mariners and port professionals”, says Dr. Geneive Brown Metzger, President and Founder of the ACMF.
The event will be held at the historic New York Yacht Club on Friday evening, October 11th, 2019. Maritime executives, diplomats, and friends from across the Caribbean and the U.S., including Jamaica, The Bahamas, Barbados, Suriname, Cayman, New York, Connecticut, Florida, New Jersey, and Washington will attend the annual event sponsored by the American Caribbean Maritime Foundation (ACMF). Event proceeds will go toward supporting maritime education and facilities at the Caribbean Maritime University (CMU) located in Jamaica, the regional maritime training institution for the Caribbean.
“The maritime sector has the potential to transform economies across the Caribbean region,” says Roland Malins-Smith, Honorary Chairman of the Anchor Awards, “and we must do all we can to support the development of future Caribbean mariners, port operators, and industry professionals,” he continues. Retired president of Seafreight Lines Ltd, Mr. Malins-Smith, is a major donor to the ACMF and 50-year veteran of the industry.
The ACMF is a U.S. 501(c)3 non-profit tax-exempt organization based in New York. The ACMF funds scholarships and grants, and supports the construction of facilities at the Caribbean Maritime Univesity (CMU). The ACMF was founded by former Jamaican Consul General in New York, Dr. Geneive Brown Metzger.
