Gallery Caribbean Art Collection is now presenting its new exhibition “Jamaica’s
Garden” opening November 25th, 2005 at 6 pm in Pariser Str. 40, Berlin-Wilmersdorf
featuring the Jamaican water colorist Sonia Richards as well as works from the painters
Barbara Amato, (US born artist who lives in Jamaica) and Richard Hall, Jamaican born.
Sonia Richards is a still life specialist who captures the colourful variety of Jamaican
fruits plants and flowers in an intuitive way. She was educated at Brooklyn Community
College, New York. On her return to Jamaica in 1990 she attended Edna Manley School for
the Visual Arts in Kingston. She has participated in many group exhibitions including New
York’s Horitcultural Society’s Exhibition in Manhattan in 1990, the Art Promenade in New
Kingston, Jamaica in the year 2000, and the multinational art exhibition “Feminine Rising” at
the Broward Country Library, Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 2003. Many of her pieces now form
part of collections in the USA, Canada and throughout the Caribbean. The Artist will be
present at the opening.
To remind you which goal “Caribbean Art Collection” has, I would like to give
you some more information. Having been born in Jamaica and still having my roots
and family there it is with a special pleasure and pride that I present Caribbean Art
and Culture, building a bridge of respect and better understanding between Europe
and the Caribbean. With the co-operation of the respective ambassadors Caribbean
Art Collection gives 5% of its earnings back to the country of origin of the featured
artists by supporting social projects in the Caribbean.
