Guyana President, Bahamas Prime Minister and Governor Bush among invitees
The stage is set for Central Florida’s first Caribbean American Business Expo and Conference which will kick off a month of activities to celebrate Caribbean American Heritage Month in Central Florida.
The Expo and Conference, to be held June 1-3, at the Central Florida Fair and Exposition Park (Fairgrounds) will feature the products and services of more than 100 companies from the Caribbean region and the United States.
His Excellency Bharat Jadgeo, President of Guyana is slated to deliver the keynote address at the event’s formal opening ceremony at 5.30 pm on Thursday, June 1.Florida Governor Jeb Bush has also been invited to address the opening ceremony.
Prime Minister of the Bahamas, the Honorable Perry Christie has also been invited to deliver a keynote address during the course of the Expo and Conference.
Put on by Central Florida’s Caribbean Sun newspaper, the conference will also include several seminars on key issues relevant to trade and other business at which experts will lead the discussions and provide hands-on advice.
The conference will address issues that affect businesspeople both in the US and the Caribbean region including customs and labeling requirements, regulations regarding trade in agricultural items, fish and processed foods, immigration and labor laws for businesspeople and transportation of goods including shipping routes and prices.
Guyana will have a pavilion consisting of some 40 booths from companies in the country. The participation of the Guyanese companies is being facilitated through the Guyana Office for Investment (Go-Invest).
Joining Go-Invest (Guyana Office for Investment) as Platinum sponsors are El Dorado Rums, whose award winning rums will be served at the opening reception, and C&S Construction of Orlando.
