Post Event Release – Reggae Carifest Hosts Successful NYC Launch

This past Thursday, over 300 people crowded into New York City’s trendy Home Night Club to officially launch Reggae Carifest 2007 taking place on August 25th, at Randall’s Island in NYC. Among the partygoers, Dancehall’s Don Gorgon Ninja Man, I-Sasha, Million Voice, Khari Kill, Jah Bami, The Demus Family, Jr. Demus, Mikey Jarrett, Louie Rankin’, the Crazy Hype Dancers, the Bleach Brothers, and America’s Next Top Model’s Camille McDonald rocked along with Stereo Choice Sound to celebrate the 10th anniversary of North America’s signature summer Reggae staging.

A celebrity ‘green carpet’ event, Carifest Organizers Ewart “Junior” Burton and D’Niscio Brooks of Team Legendary used the opportunity to highlight the event’s principle “Going Green” theme, educating patrons about the importance of taking care of the environment.

In addition, LIFEbeat—The Music Industry Fights AIDS supplied the event with free condoms and literature on their HIV/AIDS awareness campaign, which was championed by Ninja Man who did an impromptu public service announcement for the press on the importance of safe sex.

“Mek sure you use this,” Ninja Man told the crowd, holding up a LIFEbeat supplied condom for the cameras. “I used to use these when I was a bad boy, but now I’m a good boy so I don’t need them,” he added, hugging his wife Wendy Brown. “But all you bad boys out there, mek sure you don’t forget this,” he added before deejaying freestyle lyrics on the importance of condom usage.

Event host popular radio personality Simon Templer introduced this year’s Carifest lineup which includes Ninja Man, Buju Banton, South African Reggae star Lucky Dube, The ‘Gangsta Fi Life’ Mavado, Bounty Killer, Reggae ambassadors Third World, Collie Buddz, Sean Kingston, Pinchers, Yellow Man, Merciless, I-Sasha, Million Voice, Khari Kill, Jah Bami, The Demus Family, Mikey Jarrett, and many many more.

MTV Tempo, Blackspot of BET.com, Power 105.1 FM, Bad Boy Entertainment, Marcus Blassingame of Black Men’s Magazine, Big Up Radio, David ‘Squeeze’ Annakie of LinkUp Media, JAMROCK Magazine, PLUSH TV, Roland Hyde of RoleModel Media/AI TV, Delroy Carroll of Solar Entertainment, Lorraine Muir of CaribbeanLife, Denton Hutchinson of the Jamaica Gleaner, Backyard TV, and Datzwhutzup.net were among the many people and companies that were represented at the jam packed venue.
