May 20th, 2008 New York, NY – The organizers of the annual Reggae Carifest/Carifest C.A.R.E.S will hold a Press Conference for their Carifest C.A.R.E.S AIDS Awareness Benefit concert for Keep A Child Alive on Wednesday June 4th at Jay Z’s 40/40 Club in NYC hosted by celebrity DJ/VJ Short-E from Power 105. The event will serve as a press conference as well as provide focus on AIDS awareness, most notably with the “Keep A Child Alive” organization which is dedicated to helping children and families to obtain life-saving AIDS drugs and support for survival. There will be a panel discussion with Maria Davis, representatives from “Keep A Child Alive”, the Abbott Laboratories/The Magic Johnson Foundation’s “I STANDWITHMAGIC” campaign with more TBA.
Some of the performers who will be onstage at Carifest C.A.R.E.S 2008 on July 6th at the USTA National Tennis Center: Arthur Ashe Stadium in Flushing Meadows Park, Queens, NY, will also be in attendance: Matisyahu, Midnite, Eek A Mouse, Causion, Meta and the Cornerstones, Groundation, Uriel Hamilton, and Kayla Bliss. There will also be a special screening of the Keep A Child Alive documentary, “Alicia in Africa”.
Launched in 1998 Reggae Carifest/Carifest C.A.R.E.S was initiated principally for uniting the West Indian/Caribbean Culture for one full day of cultural awareness, consciousness and celebration of the culture here in the United States. This festival caters to all genuine cultural expressions and aesthetics and is received by an eclectic group of people hailing from all walks of life
