Artists Spreading Art Inc. (ASA) is a newly formed non-profit 501(c)(3) organization in South Florida, created to support and develop the visual arts and its creators in our local communities. ASA was founded by three resident artists of the Lauderhill Arts Center after realizing the need for greater community involvement and support for the visual arts.
In this effort, ASA will host its first annual Chalk Walk on Saturday, April 13 from 10am-4pm on the perimeter sidewalk at the Lauderhill Arts Center, 5450 NW 19th Street, Lauderhill, Florida.
ASA will pair a professional local artist with one or more talented middle and/or high school students to design and create a sidewalk chalk mural with the hope of making a positive impact on these young minds and the Lauderhill community. Winners, chosen by a panel of invited judges, will receive awards and prizes in various categories for their final completed chalk mural.
Chalk Walk 2013 will include music, food and lots of art fun for all, and hopes to attract local residents, art lovers and artists from Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach Counties. The event will shine a light on the city of Lauderhill and aid in its revitalization program.
Coverage by our local media will be greatly appreciated and will aid in making this event a success.
