Chiropractic Center Backs Miss Lou Scholarship Fundraiser, June 4, 2011, FL

Demonstrating their continued support for Caribbean Culture, and acknowledging the importance Miss Lou played in the advancement of Jamaican Folk life, County Line Chiropractic Medical & Rehab Centers has signed on as Presenting Sponsor of the annual Louise Bennett-Coverley Tribute, scheduled for Saturday, June 4, at the Miramar Cultural Center.

This year’s tribute, entitled “Ol’ Time Sinting” is a musical in the pantomime tradition and will feature Jamaica’s first lady of the theatre, Leonie Forbes as well as popular actor Volier “Maffie” Johnson.  Supporting cast will include Malachi Smith, Marie Gill, Dr. Sue, Deborah Pinnock, Chris Gilchrist, Carimer Theatre Group, Tallawah Mento Band and the Jamaican Folk Revue.

“We are delighted to have County Line Chiropractic Medical & Rehab Centers as our presenting sponsor for this event.  Their financial and promotional support will assist us in advancing the legacy Miss Lou left and also will help to contribute to the scholarship at the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts in Kingston, Jamaica,” stated Mrs. Norma Darby, founder of the Louise Bennett-Coverley Scholarship Foundation and the Jamaican Folk Revue.

Louise Bennett-Coverley and Ranny Williams were among the pioneers of the Jamaican Pantomime and did much to mould the annual show into a unique creation, which features aspects of Jamaican culture, folklore and historical references. “Ol’ Time Sinting” will follow the tradition and be a bellyful of laughs, colorful costumes and commentary on topical issues. It has been many years since “Pantomime” was staged in South Florida, and The Jamaican Folk Revue has partnered with the City of Miramar to produce this theatrical tradition, as part of the Caribbean-American Heritage Month Celebrations.

“Recognizing and preserving the legacy of a cultural icon such as ‘Miss Lou’ is important to us at County Line.  The Caribbean community has always been close to our hearts, and we are very fortunate to be able to partner with the Jamaica Folk Revue to assist with the scholarship fundraiser,” commented Tiffany DiPinni, Chief Marketing Officer of County Line Chiropractic Medical & Rehab Centers.

Tickets for the event will be available online at, the Center’s Box Office or by phone at 954-462-0222.  Proceeds will go towards the Louise Bennett-Coverley Scholarship Fund, tenable at the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts. The Scholarship awarded annually to students of Drama, Music and Dance, is now in its fifth year, (and 8 recipients) the latest being Paul Wilson – a student of Drama.

The event is sponsored by M. Gill & Associates, Western Union, The Jamaica Tourist Board, Ocho-Rios Miami, Air Jamaica, Jamaica National Building Society and Caricom Freight Consolidators.
