Fellow Jamaicans and Friends:
It seems that it was only yesterday that we greeted each other with the message of Christ’s birth.
I am honoured to be able, once again, to send a special greeting to all Jamaicans and friends in the Diaspora and to pay tribute as we herald the birth of Jesus Christ. In this holiday season of thanksgiving and celebration, we reflect on the many blessings that have come our way over the past year. It is a special time and season of joy, good tidings and goodwill to all.
I am privileged to work with, and to be associated with, a number of outstanding men and women representing the many associations and organizations that cheerfully, and always with goodwill, extend that helping hand, and to assist others to rise to a higher level. As Jamaicans, we take great pride in the fact that we continue to excel in many endeavours on the world stage. With our characteristic audacity of spirit, we shall not be limited in our quest for greatness by insularity or geographic limitations.
Ever mindful of our realities, I am optimistic enough to say that the future promises much. Globalization and the Caribbean Single Market are no longer mere buzz words but real-life situations pregnant with possibilities and opportunities. But, above all, I am ever more convinced of the one truth for our nation’s success – the character of our people. And while we understandably count our blessings, may we never forget to share these blessings as we continue on our chosen path.
As you celebrate with family, friends and loved ones, may we continue to be mindful of the reason for this season, remembering the words of the Prophet Jeremiah: “Heal me, O Lord, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise”. Let us continue to build with love and understanding as we proclaim the rhythm and spirit of Jamaica to the world.
The Staff of the Jamaican Consulate, the Jamaica Information Service, Jamaica Promotions (JAMPRO) and the Jamaica Tourist Board join me in wishing you a joyous and fulfilling holiday season and a New Year filled with the promise and success you so richly deserve.
True to the highest and noblest ideals of our people, let us combine hearts and hands together to put meaning to the words: Jamaica, land we love!
Best wishes for the holiday season, and peace, love and happiness in the New Year.
