WHAT: Every Caribbean-American citizen (English, French-Creole, Spanish, Dutch speaking) over the age of 18 is eligible to register and vote in the primary elections on August 26th and General Election on November 4th.
Registered Democrats and Republicans will be eligible to vote for their primary preference in primary elections on August 26th for state, county and municipal races. The primary election will also include important constitutional and referendum ballot issues.
WHO: All Caribbean-American persons and members of cultural, religious, educational, sports, community, business, charitable, and homeowner associations throughout the State of Florida.
WHEN: Deadline, July 28th Book Closing for Primary elections on August 26th. Deadline is October 6th for the General Elections on November 4th. Applications must be mailed and postmarked on the deadline date.
WHERE: Throughout Florida, there are many official agencies where you can register in person or get voter registration forms, including Florida Driver License Bureau, County libraries, any State public assistance agency, any agencies that provide assistance to disabled persons, a local Armed Forces Recruiting Offices, and your local Supervisor of Elections office.
WHY: Politics impacts the life of every citizen regardless of their race, religion, or national origin. Political decisions are made with or without a citizen’s participation. Caribbean-Americans have a choice to be involved and engaged in these important decisions and in the future leadership of the country.
HOW: Voters should remember the following:
- To update any address, name, or political affiliation changes;
- To be aware of the location of your precinct;
- Voters should bring a photo ID that contains a signature.
