Demand from Dancehall fans worldwide has pushed Tad’s Record’s latest EP Clarks: De Mixtape Raw from digital to physical. Starting today, Clarks: De Mixtape Raw, featuring Dancehall giant Vybz Kartel’s biggest anthems of 2010, is available at all major and local retailers worldwide.
Clarks: De Mixtape Raw, released on iTunes and all digital outlets on December 10th, features popular hit singles from Kartel’s lengthy 2010 catalogue. Mixed by DJ Wayne, of Jamaica’s pioneering Reggae radio station Irie FM, the mixtape includes Kartel’s smash international radio hit “Clarks,” and the follow up singles “Clarks Again” and “Wear Weh Yuh Have (Clarks 3),” collectively known as the ‘Clarks Trilogy.’ “Clarks” remained among the top three Reggae singles with the most international radio spins for over 40 weeks. Other singles include popular street and party anthems “Touch A Button,” “Turn and Whine,” “Cake Soap,” “Dumper Truck” and “Dancehall Hero.”
“The digital mixtape is doing exceptionally well, and is expected to explode even more in January,” states Tad Dawkins, CEO of Tad’s Record Inc. “There is also a request from iTunes for an EP of the songs without the DJ mixes, with both the clean and raw versions of the songs. That EP will hit iTunes later on this month.”
Named Deejay (emcee) of the Year 2010 by the Jamaica Observer, and Caribbean Artist of the Year by WBLS 107.5FM’s popular Caribbean Fever radio program in New York, Vybz Kartel has been dominating the Dancehall scene for the past two years, scoring well over a dozen local #1 hits, four international hit singles (“Dollar Sign,” “Ramping Shop,” “Virginity/Versatility,” and “Clarks”), and countless street zingers. Tad’s Record released Pon Di Gaza 2.0, Kartel’s successful double album, in February 2010.
