Caribbean Comedy Festival 2008, June 29, 2008, Horward

“Decades invested in building an institution that would deliver services to educate, to entertain, and to enlighten is what we have accomplished in 20 years of Caribbeana’s comedy festival, stated Von Martin, radio personality and producer of a 30 + year old radio program entitled “Caribbeana” on WPFW 89.3 FM.

On Sunday, June 29th at 7:00 PM in Cramton Auditorium of Howard University, Von Martin rounds off the weekend of Caribbean American Heritage Month and the DC Caribbean carnival events with his historical 20th Annual Caribbeana’s comedy festival, themed “Laugh Up Again, More Jokes Fuh So”. This year he brings to the stage a well-mixed cast geared to provide an action packed, sidesplitting, and entertaining evening.  The Laugh Up Again, More Jokes Fuh So cast includes:  MCs- Von Martin and Sprang-A-Lang (Trinidad & Tobago), Calypsonian Relator in Nostalgia, Extempo singing by Gypsy and Lady Africa, Wendell Ettienne (Trinidad and Tobago); Elva Ruddock (Jamaica), Rhoma Spencer (Trinidad & Tobago), and Mac Fingall (Barbados).

Recently retired from the Organization of American States as their English speaking producer, journalist, and radio broadcaster, Martin will be expanding the services of Caribbeana Radio into a full fledged nonprofit corporation.  This corporation will truly serve his 3 E’s, which are to Educate, to Entertain, and to Enlighten All That Is Caribbean.

Partners and supporting local businesses involved in making Caribbeana’s 2008 Comedy Festival a success include Majic 102.3 fm, WPFW 89.3 fm, Caribbean Cargo DC, and Air Jamaica.
