A popular hotel in San Juan, Puerto Rico has announced plans to increase its share of visitors from other parts of the Caribbean.

Nash Mawani, the proprietor of the 56-room Comfort Inn San Juan, averred North American travelers were the primary target of the downtown hotel, but he was determined to attract more Caribbean residents to experience the Puerto Rican charm of the value-centered property.

Mawani, a veteran hotelier with investments around the world, said islands such as St. Maarten/St. Martin, Dominica, Dominican Republic and the US Virgin Islands – because of their proximity to Puerto Rico – were key markets. And there were many reasons to visit.

“We welcome fellow islanders whether they come to shop, attend business conventions, receive medical attention or simply relax,” said Mawani, who pointed to Comfort Inn San Juan as being ideally suited for corporate travelers interested in big savings.

Mawani noted Comfort Inn San Juan plans to tap into the Caribbean market through word-of-mouth marketing and supporting Caribbean-focused events and initiatives. It will also leverage the cooperative marketing efforts and regional footprint established by Choice Hotels International in the Caribbean.

The Comfort Inn hotel is located in the popular Condado district of San Juan, just one block from the Atlantic Ocean, and close to historic Old San Juan, featuring cobblestone streets, the El Morro fortress (Castillo de San Felipe del Morro), and hundreds of buildings dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries. The Port of San Juan in Old San Juan and La Concha Casino are only two blocks away from the hotel.
