The annual Consul General’s Heritage Award Ceremony will be held virtually this year on Friday, November 6, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. (EST), to acknowledge the meaningful contribution of individuals at the community level and award them for these efforts.
The ceremony, entitled “Celebrating a Heritage of Resilience and Pride” will be streamed live on the Consulate’s Facebook page — @jamaicanconsulategeneralnewyork.
Speaking on the event, the Consul General of Jamaica in New York, Mrs. Alsion Wilson, OD, noted that this year’s recipients have been pivotal in their response during the COVID-19 pandemic and have been impactful within the Jamaican community. Consul General Wilson indicated that they worked assiduously alongside the Consulate towards assisting Jamaican nationals, specifically in the areas of healthcare, education, tourism, food services, and accommodation. The Consul General also highlighted that the level of commitment which the awardees exhibited was phenomenal and that this demonstrated a genuine desire on their part to assist.
Consul General Wilson further stated that it was of utmost importance to celebrate the sterling efforts of these seven individuals, who have an abiding affinity to Jamaica and have continued to make significant contributions to the Jamaican community.
The Consul General will present awards to the following recipients:
- Glenna Myers-Bartley
- Robert Clarke, MD
- Keith Grant, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, CIC
- Marc M. Jerome
- Christopher Service
- Rudolph C. Willis, MD
- Patrick Morgan & Isabelle Legault of Witham Family Hotels
Ambassador Courtenay Rattray, Permanent Representative of Jamaica to the United Nations in New York will also bring greetings and Professor Michael Wattkis from the Jamaica Diaspora Day of Prayer (JDOP) organization will be the Master of Ceremonies.
The Awards Ceremony is open to anyone from the Diaspora and in Jamaica who wishes to join virtually.
