Jamaica’s junior surf team which will be competing at the ISA World Junior Surfing Championships in Panama from the 11-22 April, have attracted sponsorship from Copa Airlines. The sponsorship comes in the form of 2 free tickets as well as free return shipping of national team surfboards a value of over us$1,500.00.
“Copa Airlines has been a big supporter of Jamaican surfing for a long time” said JSA President Billy Wilmot. “Over the past 8 or 10 years, Copa has sponsored the JSA to all the international events in countries they fly to! Copa has flown us to Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador and Peru, without this kind of support Jamaica would not have the recognition it has in the world surfing community and our athletes would be way behind the curve from the lack of experience and exposure.” The Team departs for Panama on the 10th April returning on the 24th April.
The JSA receives an annual grant from the Sports Development Foundation along with sponsorship from Magma Wax, Xtrak Deck Pads and Insight51 Clothing which made this trip possible.
