It’s official. Harbour View Lakers guard/forward Christopher Walker is taking his game to Cedarville University (Ohio) where he will join countrymen Mugabe Thomas and Daniel Rose. Walker, the reigning MVP of the Cable & Wireless (C&W)/Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC)-sponsored National Basketball League (NBL) will leave the island late December to begin classes in January 2006. He will begin playing in the fall of 2006 and Coach Ray Seagle cannot wait to unleash his new find on the American Mideast Conference (AMC). Standing at only 6’ 6”, Walker plays with the potency of a 6’ 9” forward who makes a living attacking the rim on both ends of the court. His vertical leap is to die for, and his athleticism is second to none locally. Although he suffered a setback during last season, breaking his arm during a league game, Walker is now fully healed and rearing to go. Before his unfortunate accident, Walker averaged a double-double for the Lakers (20 points, 10 rebounds). With Thomas set to graduate this summer, Walker is poised to step in and carry the flag from where his All-American countryman left off. He is looking forward to the challenge and his early arrival on campus will no doubt be very beneficial to helping him adjust to his new surroundings. The scholarship was made possible through the efforts of the Jamaica Basketball Development (JBD), Inc., in collaboration with the Jamaica Basketball Association (JBA).
