This year, the D’Limers Race for the Cure team, a coalition of Caribbean-American businesses and organizations, will celebrate their 10th Anniversary raising the level of breast cancer awareness and additional funds for breast cancer research at the 18th Annual Komen Miami/Fort Lauderdale Race for the Cure. On Saturday, October 19th, 2013, D’ Limers will gather at Bayfront Park with the music of DJ Barrie Hype and Giselle “D’ Wassi One” Blanche, courtesy of VP Records. Starting with two companies and 42 participants in 2003, the 10th Anniversary is expected to draw over 250 participants and a number breast cancer survivors.

“Since the formation of our team 10 years ago, with delancyhill and BILMOR, we have built a strong emotional network of support for other friends and families who encounter the challenges and impact of breast cancer. We look forward to the fellowship with each other and remind ourselves of the precious moments in life,” remarked Carla Hill, a six year breast cancer survivor and founding team captain of D’ Limers.

After the Walk and Run, the D’ Limers will enjoy a full fare of Caribbean brunch delights from local Caribbean caterers such as Sweet Hand Kathy, Chef Irie Spice, Yahmon Salmon, Buena Vista Deli, Palatino Jamaican Restaurant, Sweets by Sasha, Jamrock Cuisine, Feverish Pops, Tropical Smoothie Café, among others.

Participants are encouraged to bring past Carnival headpieces to wear with their Team t-shirts in the 10th anniversary color of TURQUOISE.
