Carnival comes to town in the nation’s capital of Washington, D.C. when the international king of soca, Machel Montano, along with some very special friends are set to take center stage at RFK Stadium festival grounds on Friday, June 25, 2010.
Montano will be joined by fellow HD Family members Patrice Roberts and Farmer Nappy, as well as this year’s soca monarch champions, JW & Blaze, alongside St. Vincent’s soca prince, Skinny Fabulous, and Trinidadian chutney star, Hitman, and the promoters promise there will be even more action in store for the carnival audience.
Montano will be celebrating the release of his 34th album, aptly titledAlbum 34, at “Live In The City,” and is undoubtedly having one of the biggest years of his career, currently on tour throughout the U.S. with Pitbull. He is also enjoying rotation on mainstream radio with features on Pitbull’s new single, “Alright,” and on Casely’s single, “Sweat,” which also features Lil Jon. Montano was also a top winner at the recent International Reggae and World Music Awards (IRAWMA) in New York, where he again was named the ‘Bob Marley Entertainer of the Year.’
Presented by lifestyle promotion and marketing company, Gresham Marketing Group, “Live In The City” is an massive outdoor music festival that is a true celebration of Caribbean spirit and culture. Everyone is invited to journey to the capital city to enjoy the fantastic atmosphere of the Caribbean Festival Village, where the promoters are thrilled to offer concertgoers an array of ethnic foods and top shelf liquor, which will be a true reflection of the diversity of the islands.
“Live In The City” will also showcase international DJs including Jugglers from Trinidad, Walshy Fire from Jamaica, Private Ryan from Miami, Foreign Bass from New York, and D.C.’s own Spring International, who will all serve up the perfect sounds of the Caribbean, all night long.
