Friday, January 31 is the new deadline for entries in the 2014 JCDC Jamaica Gospel Song and Jamaica Children’s Gospel Song Competitions.
As the agency responsible for developing and showcasing the creative talent of our Jamaican people, the JCDC has responded to the call of persons who had missed the original deadline. The Commission has extended the time to give them the opportunity to participate in the competitions.
The Jamaica Gospel Song Competition seeks to inspire and foster spiritual development, while encouraging writers and vocalists to challenge themselves in striving to become the best new artist/writer of the year. It is a two pronged competition which encourages song writers and performers to express themselves with an original song utilizing any genre of music to spread the gospel. All entrants must be 16 years and older.
The Jamaica Children’s Gospel Song Competition is open to children between the ages of
6 -10 and 11-15 years, who are entered into three categories, solo, ensemble and choir. The competition accepts entries for both covers and original.
With over a million dollars in cash and prizes to be won, participants also benefit from several training workshops, which help to hone their skills. They are also given the opportunity to perform in front of diverse audiences. Entry forms for the competitions are available online at www.jcdc.gov.jm, the JCDC Head Office located at 3-5 Phoenix Avenue, Kingston 10 and all JCDC parish offices island-wide.
