Friday, March 22 is the new deadline for entries in the 2013 JCDC Miss Jamaica Festival Queen Competition.

The Miss Jamaica Festival Queen Competition is one of the JCDC’s signature events that continues to attract young women between the ages of 18 and 25 years. Contestants are judged on Cultural Awareness, Leadership, Community Involvement and their presentations in areas of the Performing Arts.

The competition allows the contestants to be aware of the contribution they can make to community development and nation building as they strive towards attaining their personal goals. The winners in each parish and at the National level will become Cultural Ambassadors who work with the JCDC and other organizations to continue to promote the country’s rich culture locally and internationally.

The contestants in the Miss Jamaica Festival Queen Competition are Parish Festival Queens who have been crowned in the thirteen parish contests that are held across the island. The parish coronation will be held during the months of April and May.

The competition is well supported by loyal sponsors who continue to provide attractive prizes. The 2012 winner received a prize package valued at over $1.5 million which included 2007 Nissan March courtesy of Mack D’s Auto Sales, cash of $300,000.00 courtesy of Grace Springtime and Bedroom Set from Singer Jamaica Limited along with other consolation prizes. The other contestants also won several sectional prizes which included cash and trophies.

Entry form for the 2013 competition is available at the JCDC Head Office located at 3-5 Phoenix Avenue, Kingston 10, all JCDC parish offices island-wide and online at www.jcdc.gov.jm.
